Losers always whine about their best; winners go…
…to New York and try to win a new Jeep!
OK so that may have been a corny attempt at a quote from “The Rock”, but it’s the first thing that came to my mind… yesterday I competed in Jeep’s Tweet-to-Win trivia contest and managed to answer the question correctly in a matter of seconds. This won me a trip to the New York International Auto Show at the end of this month/early April. When I get there, I will, along with the other 4 trivia winners, race to dig through a sand pit and find a Jeep Tiki doll. First to find the Tiki wins a brand new 2010 Jeep Wrangler Islander.
“But Steven, you already have an Islander!” Yes I know… and how much BETTER would it be to have a 1990 Islander to play with and occasionally drive to work on nice days and then also a 2010 Islander to daily drive – and play with a little as well; I mean c’mon it’s a Jeep! So in less than 2 weeks, I’m off to NYIAS! Wish me luck! While I’m there, I plan to make a few posts of various concept cars, new cars, upcoming cars, etc etc. So keep an eye on the main page for updates and pictures and HOPEFULLY a very happy new-Jeep owner!
I’m actually pretty pumped that Jeep brought back this edition, too. It was a cosmetic package available on YJs between 1988 and 1992, available in red, yellow, teal, and white. The main noticeable feature of the package was body color matching flares and side steps (one could argue that the sunset decals were most noticeable, but a lot of people have removed them in the last 20 years, so it’s not as noticeable). The new Islander package for the JKs is mainly cosmetic, but does have a very distinct non-cosmetic feature. It has the 32″ (255/75R17) tire upgrade from the Rubicon model with the matching Rubi MOAB wheels which is definitely a step up from the stock 29s (225/75R16). Other than that, though, the rest of the features are cosmetic; decals, embroidered seats with the Tiki design, side steps, leather wrapped steering wheel, and Mopar rubber slush mats. The JK package is currently available in 2 or 4 door models (4wd only because why have a 2wd Jeep in the first place, much less one with Mud Terrain tires) and in Black, Stone White, Surf Blue, Bright Silver. I wouldn’t mind a 4 door Islander, but I’m not about to complain about winning the 2 door!
OK enough of the sales pitch… let’s just agree that it’s a nice looking Jeep and it would be awesome for me to have it. So everyone concentrate all your luck onto me the Thursday after next (yes, April Fool’s Day) and hope I find that Tiki before the other 4 people do!
