So I haven’t posted pictures of my status of the Jeep build lately so here are some…  It’s been twelve weeks since I pulled the Jeep into the garage and completely gutted everything under the frame.  So in the past 12 weeks, I’ve sold some parts, painted some parts, put the axles together, bolted the axles up, bought a welder, put some cheapo tires under it, and cycled the suspension a bit.  So that’s where I sit now.  I’ve done all the grunt work (for the most part), so the rest is just fine tuning everything.  Keep reading to see pics and a rundown of what I’ll be doing for the next few weeks/months:

  • Should be getting the garage wired up for the welder soon
  • I can order my steering linkage and work out any kinks I find in that
  • I cycled the suspension once and will do it again to double check my numbers and order my shocks
  • Weld the rear spring perches in place
  • Run the brake lines and e-brake
  • Mount my tires to the hummer wheels
  • Measure and order driveshafts

At that point, the actual BUILD should be pretty much complete (and I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few things).  After the build, there are plenty of minor things that I’ll still need to do like paint the whole thing, weld together a cage, and run all my wires and hoses.  But it would at least be drivable at that point and I can’t wait to hear those IROKs hum on the road.

So here are some pics of the last 12 weeks:

Removed all my stickers and started sanding away the residue

Got the winch bolted up but not wired yet

Cut the stock arm off, bolted the double ended arm on, and painted it all

Where I worked on the axles for weeks/months

Early bday present for myself; Millermatic 180 :)

Leaf springs and boomerang shackles bolted up

Got the axles bolted up and hanging

Stock waggy springs have a nice little arch to them

Cheapo tires, but at least the jackstands are gone

Another angle with it standing on it own 'feet'

First test of the flex capability of SOA

I'd say that's better than I used to be able to do :)
